Introducing fundraiser number 9… Jo!
I became a mum in 2000. My daughter was very much wanted and I had good support from family and friends, a nice home and a secure income. So I was shocked at how much I struggled to adjust to being a parent. Not only was I finding it tough but I also felt guilt and shame that I was failing as a mum, when I had barely started. Things got better over time but I have never forgotten that experience. I have always thought, if I struggled, how might others also find parenting tough who don’t have my advantages or resources.
Home-Start Manchester recruits other parents to offer emotional support and practical help to young families in our city and that’s why I am running the Manchester 10K for them – and I’ve never run 10K before! I hope you will donate what you can to this amazing organisation and help us to continue the essential work they do.
