James’ Marathon Diary – Part 2

A fortnight now until the London Marathon, and starting to reduce the distance I’m training to taper to the start line. 15 miles on Sunday morning, with only one long(ish) run of 10 miles after that before the marathon. Accommodation and travel all sorted for the day, so looking forward to getting stuck into it. The furthest my training plan has taken me is 20 miles, so I’m hoping that the crowds on the day keep me going for the final 6.

I met up with Hannah, the fund raising manager at Home-Start Manchester, last week to pick up my running vest for the day (see the chilly photo), and to hear about Home-Start’s current projects as a bit of a boost to remind me why I’m doing it. With some shameless social media nagging and a very productive promise of doughnuts in the office for anyone that has sponsored me, I’m now up to just shy of £2,000 (over £2,400 including gift aid) – I’d really like to get past £2,600 now so that it’ll work out at over £100 a mile…
